Getting To Know NxtNow CEO Charles Shaw

What is your connection to music and what does it bring to NxtNow?

I would say that almost every person understands the impact that music has on them and others, regardless of their lifestyle. Music is going to do something different emotionally and mentally to different people, especially depending on the song. 

It doesn't matter too much which sound, genre, artist, or instrumental a particular person takes on as the soundtrack for their life, it is usually very important, maybe even vital to them. It's all important to us as well, and we want to ensure that organic connections through music can continue to happen with NxtNow.

What is NxtNow's goal?

NxtNow began as a mobile app idea. Our long term goal is to use an app to illustrate and operate our vision of connectivity throughout the music industry. 

NxtNow is an ecosystem where communication is open and ultimately leads to commerce between music creatives (ie artists, producers) and music brands.  

In just over 2 years, our goals have changed and expanded multiple times, but we have a good sense of direction at NxtNow and pleasing music creatives and being fair with our brand partners will always be our outlook.

Where did the idea for NxtNow come from?

It started with a conversation between Carlton Boyd (Co-Founder, COO) and I over 2 years ago. Carlton owns the music discovery platform Dopecausewesaid that has been a resource for artists from all over the world for 10 years now. Carlton found that most serious artists are on a constant search for free or affordable services and resources/tools that could ultimately help boost their careers with exposure and credibility. 

Carlton and I agreed that an app would be a perfect ecosystem for this type of organic commerce and communication. Over the past few years this idea has grown and morphed into multiple branches to include the NxtNow Music website (nxtnowmusic.com), a hub for artists and music producers to find affordable or free tools and resources for their career called the Music Accelerator (nxtnowmusic.com/music-accelerator), and of course, the NxtNow app (nxtnowapp.com), which is the MVP testing phase.


Why should music creatives consider when using NxtNow?

NxtNow as a company is only pointed towards winning solutions for music creatives, as well as music brands that are looking to connect with new customers. 

It's a big part of why we decided to build an app in the first place. We thought that mobile technology could be the fastest and smartest way to bring the music networks together in one place to create a venue for music creatives and brands to connect with each other. Our team is all about helping emerging artists and music producers in their development and linking them with music brands that can elevate their careers. We take our approach very seriously.

What's next for NxtNow?

Early on we noticed that change can be a good thing, so we are an open minded, fluid and adaptable company. Our objective is to be the #1 platform for connecting music creatives and relevant music brands.
