Hot off the heels from her latest track ‘Consistent’ with Davis Chris, we get the ins and outs from TOKYOSOFINE herself about what inspired her to write such strong lyrics about self worth and also how she got into the music scene that she is thriving in today.

Tell us about your new tune

My new tune is about people who expect to do the bare minimum when dealing with me. I was blessed to be surrounded and raised by men who have showed me how I’m supposed to be treated and I know my worth, so it’s really a song for those who know their worth and won’t accept anything less than what they know they deserve.

What inspired it?

This song was inspired by men that I’ve encountered who say women like me and my friends are on “city girl” or “hot girl” sh*t when we set standards for the men that we chose to deal with.

What do you have planned for the future?

My plans for the future are to make the best of every single one of the talents that I was blessed with (singing, designing, and art), my goal is to be an icon.

Who were your influences?

My influences are my big brother (Laaawwd) who also does music and has for a long time, because he continues to grow and never gives up on his dreams. Teyana Taylor, Beyoncé, and Rihanna because they are icons, they utilize and master all of their talents as well as make a difference in the world by giving back to communities.

How did you first get into music?

Davis Chris got me into music and I’ll forever be thankful to him for seeing something in me that I barely saw in myself. I would sing in my alone time and at church growing up but never thought I had the voice to really move forward with it and he heard me singing in the background of a video on Instagram and told me I was a star and he’d help me make this song!
