Jade Kenji Brings It Back With 'I Got It'

Australian born Vietnamese queer RnB/Hip Hop artist Jade Kenji is set to continue on her upwards trajectory with the release of her latest infectious single ‘I Got It’.

Reputable for her nostalgic essence and ability to transcend, Kenji’s silky sounds are a throwback to early 2000’s RnB sounds with a twist.

‘I Got It’ is about prioritising your needs, establishing healthy boundaries and moving on from relationships that no longer serve you, whether it be romantic or platonic.

On what she wants people to take away from the track, Kenji said “When listeners hear my song, I want them to feel confident in themselves, to inspire the strength to say no and to leave any toxic situation they might be in,”

“I want my song to inspire independence and freedom from external validation especially from those who don't have our best interests at heart,”

Jade Kenji is a Vietnamese-Australian artist hailing from Sydney's south west. Her melodies and poetic punchlines showcase her affinity for infectious flows and 90s nostalgia. With heavy influences from New Jack Swing to Nujabes, her sound is quietly smooth, yet feisty and playful.

In 2022, Jade released her debut single ‘Tell Me The Time’ cementing her reputation as one of the most exciting voices coming out of Sydney. Since then she has appeared in VICE Magazine, on ABC Rage and collaborated with internationally renowned producer/beatmaker grooveman Spot. She has received radio airplay in the UK, Vietnam and Japan and has completed her first international tour in Tokyo.
