First Nations MC Kootsie Don releases new heater "Lemme Know"

Proud Larrakia, Jawoyn and TSI woman and Sydney-based MC, Kootsie Don, today shares her latest single, “Lemme Know” - out via the distribution channel of Indigenous record label Bad Apples Music, and home of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander excellence, Bad Apples Distro.

Exuding an air of self-assured nonchalance, on “Lemme Know”, Kootsie Don’s inimitable flow rides slick RnB-pop production by Jayteehazard. Across reverberating 808s and cruisy plucks of soulful guitar, Kootsie embarks on a lyrical exploration of balancing meaningful relationships between the demands of career ambition. Engulfed in hazy vocal harmonies, Kootsie Don showcases the expansive world of empowered - yet vulnerable - artistry that she has become renowned for.

Kootsie says on today’s release: “'Lemme Know' is a song that delivers the message, if you can’t support me at my worst you don’t deserve me at my best. [It] is about being raw with your feelings and expressing how you feel about me, if you love me lemme know!”

Emerging from Darwin’s cultural melting pot, Kootsie Don’s introspective and confessional blend of hip-hop and RnB transcends demographics - connecting with audiences through relatable stories exploring the human experience. Fiercely independent, Kootsie Don has forged a path as an actor, vocalist and songwriter, first establishing herself as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices via YouTube uploads in 2018. Since then, Kootsie’s profile has garnered support from SBS, triple j, triple j Unearthed and more.
