Sydney four-piece band KYOSHI delivers on a strictly smooth genre-blending debut self-titled album which we’re excited to exclusively premiere the single ‘Remedies’ off the album on SYS today ahead of it’s release August 13th.

There are not many bands who flawlessly blends break-beat, funk and soul, so it didn’t take long for us to be captivated by KYOSHI’s unique sounds. The band transcends its listeners to another universe with this album, taking us on a travelling journey in times where we can’t.

On the album, guitarist Yianni said, “We’re so proud of this album, it was such a huge journey creating it and watching it slowly come together was nothing short of beautiful. This album represents so much for us, the time we all crammed in a tiny bedroom for a recording session, travelling throughout Europe and working on it in hostels, on busses and in German gardens - it’s all on the record, in the sounds, the samples, the lyrics. This album is snapshot of our lives and how we reflect the world around us.”

Filled with unanimous sounds, like the entrance of a valley, the album welcomes you with sounds of bird calls and rainfall, foreshadowing the textural odyssey that is to come.

Throughout the course of Kyoshi’s release you’ll hear everything from otherworldly space funk jams, to heart-rending honey drenched soul. They’ve included a cornucopia of instruments with flute, bouzouki, and percussion too – keeping your ears curious for more.

Captivated by lead vocalist/keys Leah Wilkies’ lush harmonies in track 2, Mother. With the bass and drums so undeniably/irrevocably in sync, the listener is transported to a place where you can almost smell the groove.

The album's closing composition ‘reaching’ travels to many different places in itself, recapitulating the music like one's late night reflections of the day.
