Fresh off releasing his trap-heavy single ‘Tweakin’, New South Wales rapper Salty returns with a vulnerable tell-it-like-it-is EP “Manic Expression” depicting the last four years of his life.

The 6-track EP see’s the rapper opening up about addiction, relationships, friends, betrayals and what it was like growing up not only in Wollongong, but also Australia as a whole.

With different hip hop influences filtering through-out his tracks, from Grime, Trap to New School Hip Hop, the rapper still manages to stay true to himself by showcasing his versatility.

On what he wants people to take away from the EP, Salty reassures us he just wants his music to help people who can relate to his struggle.

“Not only that, but I also want it to be all inclusive for lack of better terms, so that people don’t feel like they have to look act or live a certain way to be a fan of my music or to enjoy it authentically,”

Still the rapper is adamant that he does not want to glorify or portray these themes as “cool” but to provide people with a real insight into what life can be like, and hopefully shift some perspectives by blurring lines between social stereotypes.

The architecturally crafted EP changes in style with each track showcasing the mood-swings and the emotional ups and downs of Salty’s life. It was designed this way to show different perspectives on the same or similar situations, and experiences that can be dependent on what he’s experiencing or the mood he’s in when he writes the track.

Salty started releasing music in 2016, and is now gearing up to start a new chapter with this EP which will no doubt cement his music in the hip hop scene both locally and globally.
