A crucial figure synonymous with the homegrown road rap scene, alternative hip hop artist Salty drops new ‘Tweakin’ single ahead of his EP release accompanied by raw visuals.

Dark and a little bit twisted, ’Tweakin’ is a heavy hitting modern trap song, depicting a raw personal journey for Salty, where he gets vulnerable and raps about opening up about addiction, toxic relationships and betrayal.

The trippy trap instrumental lends on energetic flows and futuristic vibes. Oozing with dark guitar melodies, trappy drums and riffs sampled, played and composed by producer Lowgrind the single is unique as it comes.

The most important message Salty wants people to take away from his music is self expression and telling his story truely and authentically.

“I am quite literally telling my story with the lyrics. The subject matter on the EP also discusses and summarises a very difficult time in my life and what it is like growing up in Wollongong, and just Australian youth culture in general and the problems, dramas, and emotions that you deal with day to day,” said Salty.

“I want it to show people I am a capable and versatile artist and not just another “Aussie Rapper,” but at the same time stay true to my roots in Aussie Rap and show respect where its due. I hope that the stylistic differences will both show people I’m a versatile artist and mean different demographics will be reached,”

Undoubtedly heating up to take the charts by storm, Salty hails from Illawarra/Wollongong area. The rapper started playing in a high school punk/metal band at age 11-13, but after finding a love for rap (mainly Uk Grime and Aussie Gutter Rap) he started writing and practicing rap lyrics as opposed to punk lyrics.

Writing lyrics has always been a way of self expression for Salty, and he also wanted a way to make music where he only had to rely on himself at gigs. At the age of 17, Salty saw himself sneaking into venues for his set when they were at clubs/pubs.

Salty then started to release music in 2016, and is now gearing up to start a new chapter with his upcoming EP due to drop late December this year. Each track on the EP is a different style/genre in terms of conventional rap genres, however keeps a consistent theme and authenticity in the lyrics.
