Following on from their critically praised single ‘No Way’, Afro-Australian group True Vibenation returned with their latest single ‘You Don’t Love Me (You Love My Guitar)’ ft. Sylent Nqo – written and produced by the group themselves, and mixed by Chris Arnott (Friendless).

Recorded in a DIY studio in Harare, Zimbabwe, ‘You Don’t Love Me (You Love My Guitar)’ showcases the trio’s distinctive afrobeat sound, mixing traditional Sungura music with modern inflections. Opening with smooth guitar phrases from featured artist Sylent Nqo, the track quickly flows into an energetic mixture of vibrant horns, lively drums, and infectious vocal melodies.

True Vibenation talk about the recording process behind ‘You Don’t Love Me (You Love My Guitar)’:

“It was all written in Zimbabwe while we were inspired and influenced by our surroundings. We were playing a festival there and afterwards hired an Air BnB in the capital (Harare). We were lucky enough to have some of the area’s best young musicians come through for recording sessions. We wanted to highlight the amazing talent that the country has to offer and also create something that reflects modern Zimbabwe as well as our Australian roots. Lyrically the song invites the fans to ‘look behind the curtain’ and see that their favourite musicians are regular humans too when the smoke and mirrors disappear.”
