It has been 5 years since Big Village Records began as a collective of 13 artists with a vision to release diverse and innovative hip hop and electronic music in 2010. Over the past 5 years the label has put out 16 official releases, presented numerous successful national tours and memorable Sydney parties, received  several critical nods such as shortlisting for Coopers AMP for Daily Meds 'Happy Daze' 2012 and nomination for SMAC best collective 2011.

To mark 5 Years of releases and events, Big Village Records are releasing the ‘5 Years Strong’ compilation on vinyl LP and digital download, featuring a selection of tunes from the first 5 years of Big Village Releases including Daily Meds 'Insane', Ellesquire 'On The Prowl', True Vibenation 'No More', Suburban Dark ft. Jeswon 'Skeletonne' & Mathas 'Stone Cold Sober'. The '5 Years Strong' vinyl LP will also come with a 20 track digital download which includes 10 bonus tracks and selected instrumentals. The ‘5 Years Strong’ vinyl LP will be available online, at the 5th Birthday and record stores nationwide from November 6.

The 5th Birthday at Oxford Art Factory will premier several limited '5 Years Strong' clothing collaborations with Surry Hills clothing store Half Sleeve, and Sydney graffiti pioneer and illustrator Days One, as well as live tee shirt screen printing by Aisle 6ix Industries.

The last 12 months has seen Big Village Records stretch out geographically with new signings, Soul Benefits a young trio from Rooty Hill in Western Sydney, and Mathas, highly acclaimed lyrical racontueur and production maestro from Perth. The next release from the label is Mathas’ long awaited ‘Armwrestling Atlas’ out 30th October, released in collaboration with WA label The Community Records, followed by full length releases from Soul Benefits and Suburban Dark in early 2016.
